The Baguio Regional Trial Court Branch 5 has found three Philippine Military Academy cadets guilty in connection with the death of their fellow cadet Darwin Dormitorio.

Dormitorio died inside the PMA premises in September 2019 after going through a brutal hazing.

Judge Maria-Ligaya Itliong-Rivera delivered the verdict today, August 16, sentencing Shalimar Imperial Jr., Julies Carlo Tadena and Felix Lumbag Jr. to 40 years in prison.

In a related ruling in August 2023, Tadena and another cadet, Christian Zacarias, were found guilty of slight physical injuries by the Baguio Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 1. However, in that same ruling, former PMA Station Hospital chief Lt. Col. Ceasar Candelaria and medical officers Capt. Flor Apple Apostol and Maj. Maria Ofelia Beloy were acquitted of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide charges.

Dormitorio was a member of the PMA Madasigon Class of 2023 and would have graduated last year had it not been for the tragic events that led to his untimely death.
