Where Was It Felt?

The earthquake’s intensity was felt at different levels across multiple regions. The strongest shaking was experienced in Virac, Catanduanes, where the intensity reached level IV. Residents of various towns in Camarines Sur, Northern Samar, and Sorsogon reported weaker but still noticeable shaking, ranging from Intensity III to Intensity I.

Instrumental Intensities and Monitoring

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) noted that Instrumental Intensity IV was recorded in Virac, Catanduanes and the City of Tabaco, Albay. Meanwhile, some areas in Sorsogon, Masbate, and Quezon felt lighter tremors.

Expecting Aftershocks, But No Major Damage

While the quake rattled nerves, PHIVOLCS has stated that there is no expected structural damage, given the intensity and depth. However, they warned that aftershocks may occur in the coming days, so residents are advised to stay cautious and be prepared for any further shaking.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation. If you’re in one of the affected areas, it’s always best to check your surroundings for potential hazards. Stay updated by following local news and PHIVOLCS advisories for any new developments.
