7.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Northeast Taiwan

A powerful magnitude 7.2 earthquake jolted northeast Taiwan at 7:58 a.m. on Wednesday (April 3), as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

The quake's epicenter was located 25 km south-southeast of Hualien County Hall, with a shallow focal depth of 15.5 km.

Intensity levels, ranging from 1 to 7, were recorded across various regions, with Hualien County experiencing the highest intensity at 6+, followed by Yilan County and Miaoli County at 5+. The quake also affected several other areas, including Taichung, Changhua County, and Taipei, with intensities ranging from 5- to 1.
