Aerial Survey Shows Minimal Oil Sheens In Manila Bay Area: PCG Gives The All-Clear

Today, July 30, 2024, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) took to the skies to check on oil sheens spotted along the coastlines of Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, and Cavite. After a thorough aerial survey, they’ve reported that the oil sheens are minimal and almost unnoticeable.
The PCG’s findings contrast with some social media buzz where videos and photos seemed to suggest a more severe situation.
According to the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation Limited (ITOPF), these online reports didn’t quite match up with the aerial observations.
