The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has firmly denied allegations of a gun-pointing incident involving our troops stationed at BRP Sierra Madre (LS57) in the Ayungin shoal with China Coast Guard (CCG) personnel.

In an official statement, the AFP clarified that its personnel, governed by the Rules of Engagement (ROE), demonstrated utmost professionalism, restraint, and discipline in carrying out their mission to safeguard the country's sovereignty and sovereign rights.

The statement emphasized that the presence of foreign vessels dangerously close to the military vessel, particularly in violation of safe distance protocols, warranted heightened vigilance from our personnel. Consequently, troops were seen on guard due to the provocative presence of the CCG near BRP Sierra Madre.

The AFP reiterated its commitment to peace and stability in the region, echoing sentiments expressed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Any aggressive actions threatening peace and the safety of troops and stations will be met with necessary and appropriate measures.
