In an effort to curb the spread of disinformation and malicious activity, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has announced a temporary disabling of certain features on its official Facebook page. This proactive measure aims to block trolls and inauthentic accounts from using the platform as a tool for spreading false information.

According to their statement, troll farms have become a significant problem, and the AFP is taking a firm stand against these “inauthentic actors” who are working together to create and spread disinformation. While this move may cause some inconvenience to legitimate followers, the AFP assures the public that updates, announcements, and other information will still be accessible through their official channels and trusted media outlets.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and ask for your patience and understanding,” the AFP shared. They also emphasized the importance of staying vigilant online by reporting suspicious activities and relying only on reputable sources for information.

The AFP’s bold step highlights the growing problem of online trolling and disinformation, showing their commitment to ensuring a safer, more reliable digital space for the public. Let’s all do our part by being responsible digital citizens and supporting this effort to fight against the spread of false information.
