Veteran broadcaster Arnold Clavio recently opened up about a terrifying health scare in an emotional Instagram post. The post, titled “Narito ang Kuwento Ko…,” detailed his experience of a sudden and severe medical emergency that occurred while he was driving home from Eastridge Golf Course.

Clavio described the incident as starting off like any other ordinary day. However, while on his way home, he suddenly felt intense numbness in his right arm and leg. He also noticed a frightening loss of control over the gas and brake pedals of his vehicle.

Alarmed, Clavio pulled over at a gasoline station to assess his condition. As he walked to the restroom, he struggled to move and had to hold onto something for support. Concerned about potential signs of a stroke, he checked his reflection in the mirror but saw no visible symptoms such as facial drooping or swelling in his eyes.

Determined to seek medical attention, Clavio carefully drove from Antipolo to the Fatima University Medical Center’s Emergency Room. There, he underwent several tests, which revealed alarming figures: his blood pressure was at a critical level of 220/120, and his blood sugar had skyrocketed to 270.

The medical team recommended an immediate CT scan, which confirmed a slight bleeding in the left side of his brain. Clavio was diagnosed with a hemorrhagic stroke—a condition where a weakened blood vessel bursts, causing bleeding in the brain.

For further observation and treatment, Clavio was transferred to St. Luke's Medical Center. The hospital's brain attack team swiftly attended to him, and he was admitted to the Acute Stroke Unit for intensive monitoring of his blood pressure and sugar levels.

In his post, Clavio shared a valuable lesson: “Feeling okay does not mean you’re okay. Feeling good does not mean we’re good. Listen to your body. Hypertension is a silent killer! Always check your BP.”

Expressing gratitude, he thanked the Lord for the miracle of survival, acknowledging how this harrowing experience has deepened his appreciation for life. He ended his post with a promise to share more of his story in the future, highlighting the importance of health awareness.

Clavio’s candid revelation serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictability of health issues and the critical need for regular medical check-ups, especially for conditions like hypertension that often go unnoticed.
