In a significant development, Commodore Jay Tarriela, spokesperson for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), hailed the 'Atin Ito Coalition' aid mission as a victory for the Philippines.

Despite not reaching close proximity to Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal), Tarriela emphasized the mission's success in resupplying Filipino fisherfolk in the region.

The coalition's primary objective, he noted, was fulfilled, underscoring the non-interference of the China Coast Guard with Filipino fishermen. The convoy, having installed buoys inscribed with 'WPS Atin Ito' in the Philippine EEZ, completed the initial distribution of supplies to fishermen.
