After weeks of intense surveillance, authorities scored a major win on Thursday night, October 10, as the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) successfully captured Lin Xunhan alias Lyu Dong, the alleged mastermind behind an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Porac, Pampanga.

The 35-year-old Chinese national, linked to the notorious Lucky South 99 operation, was reportedly trying to evade capture by undergoing facial surgery to conceal his identity. However, despite his attempt to go incognito, the authorities remained one step ahead. According to PAOCC spokesperson Casio, they acted on a strong lead and managed to arrest Lin just as he was stepping out of his Laguna residence for an event.

The bust took place around 8 p.m. in a residential subdivision, bringing Lin attempted escape from justice to an abrupt end. With the alleged "big boss" now in custody, investigators are continuing to probe the illegal POGO hub's operations.

Sen. Win Gatchalian Praises Authorities for Major POGO Bust

The successful arrest of Lin wasn't just celebrated by law enforcement—it also drew praise from prominent lawmakers. In a statement released on October 11, 2024, Sen. Win Gatchalian expressed his approval of the operation, calling it a big win in the country's ongoing battle against POGO-related social issues.

“This is a major achievement, as Lin Xunhan, also known as ‘Boss Boga,’ a key figure behind the proliferation of POGO scam hubs in the country, has been operating under a false identity for quite some time,” Sen. Gatchalian stated. According to him, the suspect had long been involved in scam networks that preyed on individuals in the country, making his capture a critical victory for authorities.

Gatchalian further emphasized the importance of constant vigilance, particularly when dealing with high-profile individuals involved in cross-border criminal activities. He also noted that the Filipino bodyguards and associates linked to Lin should be thoroughly investigated to uncover the full extent of their involvement.

The senator concluded on a hopeful note, saying, “This latest arrest fuels our optimism that we can cripple POGOs that continue to perpetrate criminalities, including widespread scams. Inaasahan nating mas marami pang kagaya ni Lin Xunhan ang masasawata ng mga awtoridad sa mga darating na araw.”

With Lin now behind bars, authorities remain focused on dismantling the criminal networks connected to illegal POGOs in the country. All eyes are on what comes next as investigators work to untangle the web of operations linked to Lucky South 99 and beyond.
