The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) isn’t holding back—it strongly condemns the brutal and senseless attack on Vice Mayor Atty. Omar A. Samama of Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur. The vice mayor was wounded in a shooting incident this morning, February 24, 2025, and the entire region is now rallying behind him.

“This is not just an attack on one man; it’s an attack on peace, democracy, and the rule of law in Bangsamoro,” the MILG stated. They made it clear that violence has no place in a society striving for justice, good governance, and progress under the leadership of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim.

The MILG is standing firmly with Vice Mayor Samama, his family, and the people of Datu Piang. More than just words, they are calling on law enforcement to move swiftly—investigate the attack, find the culprits, and bring them to justice. “We cannot and will not allow violence and lawlessness to slow down the progress of the Bangsamoro region,” the statement emphasized.

The call to action is clear: The community must stay vigilant, stand together, and uphold peace and security. The fight for justice and a safer Bangsamoro continues.
