Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa confirmed his support for Senator Chiz Escudero in the recent Senate battle for the Senate Presidency, revealing that his signature was deemed insignificant by the time he was approached. "Yes, even though my signature was already insignificant, they approached me after the battle had been won, they already had 14 signatures," he stated.

Initially informed that his signature wasn't necessary as there were already 14 signatures to unseat the Senate President, Dela Rosa contemplated joining the minority. However, persuasion from Senators Chiz and Alan Cayetano convinced him to stay with the Majority.

When asked about his emotional display during the session, Dela Rosa confessed, "I couldn't hold back my tears because, for me, being a good soldier, I wanted to tell Migz (Senator Zubiri), 'Sorry, boss, I failed to win the war for you,' as one of his trusted lieutenants." Expressing regret for not securing their party, the PDP, he tearfully apologized, feeling he let his commander down.

"It wasn't out of resentment; it was more like I felt ashamed in front of him for not winning the battle for him," he added, explaining his emotional response.
