Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go has stepped in, urging for calm and an end to the tense standoff between police and members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) in Davao City. During the Justice and Human Rights Subcommittee inquiry on Friday, September 6, 2024, Go voiced his concerns about the ongoing situation, which stemmed from the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) recent dispersal of KOJC rallyists last month.

Go, a known advocate for peace, didn’t mince words when addressing the issue. He expressed worry over the police’s continued presence around the KOJC compound, highlighting how it’s causing unease among the Davao City residents. While he acknowledged the PNP's role in keeping the city safe, he urged them to practice restraint and show understanding when executing the arrest warrant against religious leader Apollo Quiboloy.

“We just want peace and for this standoff to end,” Go said, making it clear that violence is not the answer. “Hindi po kailanman magiging susi ang karahasan sa pagkamit natin ng hustisya,” he added, emphasizing that justice should never be achieved through violence.

As the situation continues to unfold, Go’s appeal for peace resonates with many who hope for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing tension in Davao City.
