Bong Go Fires Back At PDEA's 'Baseless' Drug Allegations: 'Galit Kami Sa Droga!'

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go didn’t mince words during a Senate media interview on November 27 as he addressed his unexpected mention in a House Quad-Committee (QuadComm) inquiry on POGOs and illegal drugs. His name had been dragged into the conversation through a flawed matrix presented by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), which he called “malicious and baseless.”

“Galit po kami sa droga. Galit po kami sa mga drug lords,” Go firmly stated, emphasizing his longstanding stand against illegal drugs. He dismissed the allegations as a rehash of old, unsubstantiated claims, saying they’re just political distractions. “Napaka-iresponsable naman po ng PDEA... illogical attempt to establish guilt by association,” he added.

A Picture, A Name, and a Whole Lot of Misunderstanding

The matrix linked Go to a certain Allan Lim, an alleged drug personality, based solely on an acquaintance. Go quickly debunked this, highlighting the absurdity of tying him to someone he may have only encountered in passing.

“Ngayon uso ‘yung picture-taking, kahit sino na lang nagpapa-picture. Hindi mo naman matanong kung sino sila. Alangan namang isa-isa mong tanungin,” Go said, adding that such tactics are often employed to smear reputations during election seasons.
He called out the political undertones of these accusations, saying, “Paulit-ulit lang po ito… after a year, after a month, lalabas na naman ‘yung litrato, sasabihin na kaibigan mo.”

Standing by His Track Record

Go reiterated his commitment to public service and his work during former President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, particularly in the fight against drugs, crime, and corruption. He firmly denied any connections to drug lords and defended Duterte’s legacy, pointing out the former president’s no-nonsense approach to the drug problem.

“Napaka-unfair naman kay dating Pangulong Duterte. Siya mismo ang galit sa droga. Tapos siya ngayon magpo-protekta ng droga? Napaka-imposible po nun,” Go said, referencing Duterte’s infamous zero-tolerance policy.

Lawmakers Slam PDEA for “Irresponsible” Claims

Go wasn’t the only one fuming at PDEA’s flawed presentation. Lawmakers at the hearing grilled PDEA Deputy Director General Renato Gumban for implicating Go without concrete evidence.
“Why was Senator Bong Go’s name even included when there’s no direct evidence tying him to illegal drug operations?” asked Manila Representative Bienvenido Abante. “Huwag tayong magkakamali because we do not want to accuse a wrong person,” he warned.

Rep. Ace Barbers, who chaired the inquiry, also stressed the importance of evidence-based investigations, cautioning against the damage caused by careless allegations.

Moving Forward

Go ended the interview by calling for accountability and responsibility, especially from government agencies like PDEA. “Dapat po ay maging responsable po ang lahat... Hindi naman yata tama na isa sa pagbabasehan nila ay report mula sa hindi naman credible na witness,” he said.

Despite these persistent political attacks, Go assured the public that he remains steadfast in his service. “Patuloy po akong magse-serbisyo sa inyo sa abot ng aking makakaya,” he concluded.
As the controversy unfolds, one thing is clear: Bong Go is not backing down in his fight against illegal drugs—or baseless accusations.
