Quezon City, October 7, 2024 — It’s official—Habagat has left the building. DOST-PAGASA announced today that the Southwest Monsoon season, or Habagat, has come to an end. Recent weather analyses show that the usual wet and windy conditions associated with Habagat have significantly weakened over the past few days.

So, what’s next for the country’s weather? Well, PAGASA’s meteorologists have noticed the strengthening of a high-pressure system over East Asia, which has shifted our weather patterns and paved the way for the next season—Amihan.

This means we’re about to transition into the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) season soon, bringing cooler, drier air and, for some, the perfect sweater weather. Although the official declaration of the Amihan season is still a few weeks away, it’s time to start anticipating clearer skies and a breeze that carries the promise of upcoming holidays.

PAGASA assures that they’ll keep a close eye on the changing weather patterns. In the meantime, they remind everyone to stay updated by checking their advisories and forecasts regularly. As we wave goodbye to Habagat, get ready for the cool embrace of Amihan.
