Cagayan On Flood's Wake: Roads Turn Into Rivers As Storm Nika Leaves Its Mark
Drone footage from Cagayan’s Public Information Office (PIO) tells a dramatic story—floodwaters from the Cagayan River have surged into key roads across Enrile and Tuguegarao City, leaving a haunting view of submerged streets and disrupted lives. One of the hardest-hit areas is the long stretch of Don Loreto in Enrile, a vital link between the town's center and its eastern barangays, now swamped and temporarily inaccessible.

In response, Mayor Decena and local officials sprang into action, prioritizing evacuation for residents in flood-prone areas. Their proactive response minimized the risk for those in the most vulnerable spots, though the storm's intensity remains evident in the widespread flooding.

Tuguegarao City is also feeling the aftermath. Cabalza St., particularly at the corner of Taguinod St. in Barangay Atulayan Sur, is now underwater, causing significant traffic delays. According to the latest monitoring from the Tuguegarao City Command Center, the Cagayan River has reached a critical 11.1 meters at Buntun Bridge—alarming numbers that could mean even more flooding.

As locals face heavy traffic and continued flood risks, the priority now is to stay safe and wait for water levels to recede. The Cagayan PIO continues to share updates, hoping for clearer skies and safer roads ahead.
