The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines - National Capital Region (CEAP NCR) is calling on schools to continue commemorating February 25 as the anniversary of the People Power Revolution, a defining moment in Philippine history that showcased the nation's fight for democracy and freedom.

To make the commemoration more meaningful, CEAP NCR suggests declaring February 25 as a non-academic, non-working day for all member schools in the region.

This would allow students and educators to fully immerse themselves in activities that honor the revolution’s legacy—whether by attending commemorative events, reflecting on the values of democracy, or simply remembering the sacrifices of those who fought for the country's freedom.

CEAP NCR believes that keeping the spirit of People Power alive is crucial, especially for younger generations who didn’t experience it firsthand. By continuing to honor this historic event, schools can instill a deep appreciation for patriotism, courage, and unity, inspiring students to become responsible citizens who uphold democracy, justice, and human rights.

The group encourages schools to organize engaging activities such as lectures, discussions, film screenings, exhibits, and community outreach programs. These events aim to educate students about the People Power Revolution—its causes, impact, and significance in shaping the Philippines today.

In a time when historical awareness is more important than ever, CEAP NCR reminds everyone that People Power is not just a moment in history—it’s a legacy of courage and unity that should be passed on to future generations.
