Senator Chiz Escudero has called on his fellow senators to stay silent and impartial regarding the recent filing of an impeachment complaint in the House of Representatives. He stressed the importance of maintaining the Senate’s credibility, especially if it is called upon to act as an impeachment court.

Escudero highlighted that public comments on the allegations could create perceptions of bias, potentially undermining the Senate’s integrity and public trust. While impeachment proceedings are constitutional mechanisms for accountability, he warned that they can be divisive and should not overshadow the legislative duties of Congress.

As midterm elections approach, Escudero urged lawmakers to prioritize pressing legislative work, ensure the country’s progress, and avoid letting political noise derail their shared purpose of serving the Filipino people. He reminded everyone that even during politically charged times, the Senate must uphold justice, fairness, and unity for the nation’s welfare.
