The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has taken legal action against Alice Guo, accusing her of providing misleading information on her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) when she ran for mayor of Bamban, Tarlac in the 2022 elections. The case was recently filed in the Tarlac Regional Trial Court, marking another chapter in the issue surrounding Guo’s eligibility for public office in the Philippines.

According to the Comelec’s complaint, filed under Section 74 in relation to Section 262 of the Omnibus Election Code, Guo is accused of committing "material misrepresentation." The allegation claims that, on October 1, 2021, Guo submitted a COC declaring her eligibility to run for mayor of Bamban. However, Comelec argues that her declaration was inaccurate, asserting that Guo is actually a Chinese citizen and a resident of Fujian, China—facts that would make her ineligible for the role.

If found guilty, Guo could face legal consequences for allegedly violating election rules designed to ensure transparency and integrity in candidate qualifications.
