Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has officially declared a dengue outbreak following a sharp rise in cases across the city.

Since January 2025, 1,769 cases have already been recorded, with 10 reported deaths—8 of whom were minors. With numbers continuing to climb, the local government is stepping up efforts to curb the spread of the disease.

Free Dengue Tests, Extended Health Center Hours

To ensure early detection and treatment, Mayor Joy has ordered all 66 health centers in the city to operate seven days a week. Dengue test kits will be provided for free at health centers and city-run hospitals.

Citywide Cleanup and Fogging Operations

Barangays across QC will conduct massive cleanup drives and fogging operations in dengue hotspots to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.

Mayor Joy’s Call to Action

Mayor Joy is urging QCitizens, barangays, schools, and communities to work together in fighting dengue. She emphasized that collective action is key to preventing further infections.

She made the announcement alongside Quezon City Health Department OIC Dr. Ramona Abarquez, Barangay and Community Relations Department head Ricky Corpuz, Councilor Mari Rodriguez, Schools Division Superintendent Carleen S. Sedilla, Epidemiology and Surveillance Division head Dr. Rolly Cruz, and Dr. Rosalie Espelita of the Department of Health - Metro Manila Center for Health Development.

How You Can Help

• Keep your surroundings clean—empty stagnant water where mosquitoes breed.
• Use insect repellent and wear protective clothing.
• Seek medical help immediately if you experience symptoms like fever, rashes, or body pain.

The city government is urging everyone to stay vigilant and do their part in stopping the outbreak.
