The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has raised the crisis alert level to 2 (Restriction Phase) for New Caledonia following the declaration of a state of emergency in the territory due to ongoing rioting.

With an estimated 200 Filipinos and individuals of Filipino descent residing in New Caledonia, the DFA urges heightened awareness and precautionary measures among its citizens. Filipino residents are strongly advised to exercise vigilance, avoid crowded public areas, and minimize unnecessary movements until the situation stabilizes.

Given the fluidity of the circumstances, the DFA emphasizes the importance of closely monitoring updates and adhering to directives issued by local authorities. It is paramount for Filipinos in New Caledonia to stay informed about the evolving situation and strictly adhere to safety protocols to ensure their well-being and security.
