In the early hours of Thursday, September 5, 2024, DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil arrived in Indonesia, ready to take care of serious business. Their plane touched down at Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta at precisely 2:30 a.m. local time.

Their mission? To oversee the return of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, who has been making headlines ever since her arrest by Indonesian authorities on September 3. Guo's situation has been a hot topic back home and now, according to the Department of Justice's spokesperson, Mico Clavano, she's expected to be back on Philippine soil by the end of the day.

Abalos and Marbil’s presence in Jakarta shows just how seriously the Philippine government is taking this case. Their trip is a clear signal that they want to ensure everything goes smoothly when Guo is handed over to Philippine authorities.

This visit also highlights the strong cooperation between the Philippines and Indonesia when it comes to law enforcement. For now, all eyes are on the next few hours as everyone waits for the latest developments in this unfolding story.
