Taguig City, Philippines – The Department of Energy (DOE) recently held a comprehensive briefing attended by various stakeholders from the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) industry, focusing on the formation of the Regional Program Implementation Task Force (RPITF) and the election process that will determine the leadership as outlined in the newly established guidelines.

The briefing was attended by representatives and stakeholders from LPG industry participants. The key objective of the meeting was to provide a detailed overview of the RPITF’s role in the implementation of the LPG Cylinder Exchange, Swapping, and Improvement Programs.

The discussion also centered on the guidelines for the selection of Sectoral Chairs and RPITF representatives, ensuring that all participants are fully informed about the process.

Republic Gas Corporation (Regasco) President Arnel Ty, widely regarded as the father of the LPG Industry, shared his optimism about the forthcoming elections and the positive impact they will have on the industry. “This election is not just about choosing leaders; it’s about building a stronger, more united LPG industry that can work together to ensure the successful implementation of the LPG Industry Regulation Act (LIRA),” Ty said.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation and unity in achieving the goals set out by the LIRA. “With the establishment of the RPITF, we have an unprecedented opportunity to bring all industry players together under a common purpose. This unity will not only drive the success of our programs but also reinforce the safety and integrity of the LPG market,” Ty added.

Ty, who is also a former legislator, highlighted the critical role that the RPITF leadership will play in eliminating generic cylinders from the market, as mandated by Republic Act 11592. “The LIRA was enacted to protect consumers and ensure that only high-quality, branded LPG cylinders are available. The new leaders of the RPITF will be instrumental in enforcing this law, which is a significant step forward for our industry.”

Ty expressed confidence in the future of the LPG industry under the new leadership. “I believe that through this election process, we will identify leaders who are not only capable but also deeply committed to the values of safety, innovation, and collaboration. Together, we can achieve great things.”

Ty encouraged all stakeholders to participate actively in the election process, noting, “This is our chance to shape the future of the LPG industry. By coming together, we can ensure that the industry continues to grow and serve the needs of the Filipino people.”

Meanwhile, the DOE reiterated its commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the election process is conducted smoothly and in accordance with the established guidelines.

The briefing served as an essential platform for clarifying any concerns and ensuring that all participants are aligned with the objectives of the RPITF and the election process.
