The Department of Justice has officially announced that the extradition request filed by the Philippine government against former Negros Oriental Congressman Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. has been granted by the Court of Appeals of Timor-Leste. This development was confirmed by the Attorney-General of Timor-Leste.

Former Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. is facing charges in Philippine courts, and the extradition approval paves the way for his return to the Philippines to stand trial. The Department of Justice expressed readiness for his arrival, emphasizing the importance of facing the charges brought against him.

The extradition process involves legal cooperation between nations, aimed at facilitating the transfer of individuals accused of crimes to the jurisdiction where they are sought to be prosecuted.
