DSWD Assisting 36 Thousand Families Due To 'AGHON'

Following the departure of Typhoon "AGHON" from the Philippine Area of Responsibility on May 29, 2024, at 5 PM, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided an update on the aftermath and ongoing relief efforts as of May 30, 2024, at 6 AM.

The affected regions include NCR, I, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VI, VII, and VIII, with 773 barangays bearing the brunt of the typhoon's impact. A total of 36,549 families, comprising 128,511 individuals, have been affected.

DSWD has allocated P3,644,880.60 for humanitarian assistance, with available relief resources totaling P389,558,504.84 in standby funds and P2,473,689,472.32 for stockpiles, bringing the total to P2,863,247,977.16.

Regarding the displaced population, there are currently 652 families, comprising 2,321 individuals, taking shelter in 57 open evacuation centers. Additionally, 1,815 families, consisting of 7,328 persons, are seeking temporary shelter with friends or relatives outside evacuation centers.

A breakdown of the displaced population inside evacuation centers reveals the demographic distribution:

- Infants: 5 males, 47 females
- Toddlers: 8 males, 13 females
- Preschoolers: 11 males, 12 females
- School-age: 21 males, 18 females
- Teenage: 16 males, 15 females
- Adults: 65 males, 100 females
- Senior Citizens: 8 males, 15 females

Furthermore, the typhoon has caused significant damage to residential properties, with 102 houses reported as totally damaged and 1,319 houses partially damaged.
