It looks like the Duterte family isn’t done shaping Davao City’s political landscape just yet. On Monday, the Dutertes headed to the Comelec Davao District office to file their certificates of candidacy (COC) for various local positions, marking what could be another chapter in their long-standing hold over the city.

Former president Rodrigo Duterte is making a political comeback, this time aiming for the mayoralty seat—a position he previously held for over two decades before ascending to the presidency. But he’s not alone in his bid to keep the family legacy alive. His son, incumbent Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, is sliding into the vice mayoral slot, while Rodrigo’s grandson, Omar Duterte, is making his own debut by running for 2nd district representative.

Earlier, Congressman Paolo “Pulong” Duterte filed his COC to seek reelection as 1st District representative, while his son Rigo Duterte is eyeing a position on the city council. It’s clear that the Dutertes are rallying to ensure that every corner of Davao City has one of their own at the helm.

With nearly every prominent Duterte taking on a new role or seeking reelection, all eyes will be on Davao come election day. The question remains: will the city, known for its loyalty to the family, continue to back the Dutertes in this next round of elections?
