Lourdes Faberes, the talented Filipino actress known for her captivating performances in Good Omens and The Sandman, just dropped some thrilling news on Instagram. She’s officially joining the cast of Netflix's much-anticipated live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. And yes, she'll be stepping into the role of General Sung, adding another powerhouse character to her already impressive lineup.

In her announcement post, Lourdes revealed she’s been holding onto this exciting secret for a while, sharing, “I’ve been sitting on this news for over a month now, and I’m so thrilled to say I’m joining the @avatarnetflix family! This beautiful show explores so many of the things I deeply believe in like courage, friendship, resilience, and that sometimes, the greatest adventure is finding somewhere to call home when the rest of the world is on fire. IKYK.”

She didn’t just share her excitement for the role but also highlighted the significance of joining a cast filled with Asian talent. “In my whole career in the UK and Europe, I’ve almost always been the lone East Asian on the entire film set. To be amongst a whole sea of Asian talent makes my heart so full. It’s been such a long time coming,” she added.

As for the setting, Lourdes will be heading to Vancouver to film in the chilly winter landscape, adding some real-world magic to her on-screen adventure.
