October is Filipino American History Month, and Mattel Creations is celebrating in a major way. They’re dropping a brand-new Barbie that pays tribute to Filipino culture—*Barbie Styled by Design Doll 2*. Designed by the incredibly talented Filipino American and Barbie Signature Lead Designer, Carlyle Nuera, this doll is a stunning homage to Filipino heritage, wrapped up in high-fashion couture.

So, what's the buzz about this doll? First off, it’s more than just a Barbie—it’s a symbol of diversity and representation. Carlyle Nuera, a SoCal native who’s proud of his Filipino roots, drew inspiration from the Philippines’ rich cultural traditions. The doll rocks butterfly sleeves (a nod to the traditional attire) and a crown inspired by the Filipino sun, delicately laced with sampaguita flowers, the Philippines’ national bloom.

The intricate details don’t stop there. From the gold-tipped *janggay* fingers to the traditional *malong*-inspired skirt and even batok-style tattoos, this Barbie is a dazzling mix of tradition and modern high fashion. It’s all part of the *Styled by Design* series, where each doll reflects the creative vision of the designer behind it.

Set to launch on October 9th (US time), just in time for Filipino American History Month, this limited-edition Barbie will be available exclusively on MattelCreations.com. Fan Club members get first dibs, but don’t worry—you can sign up for only $10 to secure your spot.

Nuera shared his excitement on social media, calling this Barbie a major “morena maganda,” expressing how creating this doll was a deeply personal experience. “Being Filipino is my most foundational identity,” he says, adding that he hopes the doll will make young Filipinos feel “seen, represented, inspired, and proud.”

In fact, Nuera considers this new doll to be the “little sister” of his 2015 *Mutya Barbie*—the first Filipino Barbie he designed. It’s all about building upon that legacy, especially now, as the world continues to recognize the power of representation in toys and media.

Nuera’s passion and dedication shine through in every detail of this Barbie, making her not just a doll, but a statement. Get ready to meet this stunning Filipina-inspired Barbie—she’s here to slay and make history.
