Early morning fishing turned into an unexpected adventure for a group of fishermen in San Pascual, Masbate, when they discovered a mysterious object in the municipal waters of Brgy. Iniwaran. The Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) has confirmed that the device, marked “HY-119,” is an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV).

The discovery was reported at 6:15 AM by 30-year-old fisherman Rodnie from Sitio K-Brada. While casting their nets roughly 9 kilometers from the town center, he and his companions stumbled upon the device.

So, what exactly is the "HY-119"? Initial findings suggest it’s part of an advanced underwater navigation and communication system. PRO5 quickly turned the device over to the Naval Forces Southern Luzon (NAVFORSOL) for a deeper dive into its origins and purpose.

Regional Director Dizon assured the public that authorities are taking this discovery seriously, as the HY-119 has potential implications for national security and maritime operations. The PNP is working closely with other agencies to ensure that safety and peace in the region are upheld.

In a statement, RD Dizon emphasized the importance of vigilance in coastal communities. “If similar objects are found, we advise residents not to touch or move them. Instead, take a photo and report it to the nearest police station immediately,” he said.

For now, the HY-119 is in the hands of experts who are determining its origin and assessing any potential security concerns. Meanwhile, the fishermen of Brgy. Iniwaran will likely have an intriguing story to tell for generations to come.
