Foreign Spies Living In PH For Decades? Gov't Urges Public To Stay Vigilant

Looks like a real-life spy movie is unfolding in the Philippines. Authorities recently arrested several alleged foreign spies who, according to Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, have been quietly living among us for years—some even since 2002.

Viado revealed that these individuals held legal status, blending seamlessly into society while engaging in suspicious activities flagged by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Some were reportedly working under legitimate companies in San Juan and Manila, while others had even married Filipinas.

While specific details remain under wraps, the BI Chief emphasized that this crackdown aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s strict directive to safeguard national sovereignty.

Now, the government is urging Filipinos to stay alert and report any suspicious activities involving foreign nationals. "We are serious in our efforts to stop these undesirable aliens from abusing our hospitality," Viado stressed.

With the BI working closely with the Department of Justice (DOJ), NBI, and AFP, expect more developments in this ongoing investigation. For now, the big question remains—how many more could still be out there? Stay tuned.
