After a long legal process, former Ako Bicol Representative Alfredo Garbin Jr. has officially been proclaimed the new mayor of Legazpi City. Garbin's proclamation took place at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) headquarters in Intramuros, Manila, marking a significant moment for the Legazpi community as they welcome their new leader.

In an interview with DZGB-AM, Garbin shared that Comelec had directed Legazpi's Special City Board of Canvassers (SCBOC) to assemble today to finalize his victory. This move follows Comelec's en banc decision in case SPA 22-032, ensuring that Garbin could rightfully assume the position.

“With the issuance of the writ of execution and the certificate of finality, as well as the entry of judgment on May 10, 2023, in SPA No. 22-032, Comelec ordered the SCBOC of Legazpi City to convene today, November 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.,” Garbin explained.

Garbin, who has been a prominent figure in Bicol politics, has dedicated years of service to the region, previously as a lawmaker. Now, he steps into the role of Legazpi’s mayor, bringing his commitment and vision to city governance. Many of his supporters are optimistic about the fresh perspective he will bring to the city, as they look forward to his leadership and initiatives.

As Garbin settles into his new role, Legazpi residents are eager to see how he will guide the city, particularly with his focus on sustainable development and economic growth—priorities he championed during his campaign.
