Former President Rodrigo Duterte has officially been invited by a joint committee of the House of Representatives to attend a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, October 22. The hearing will be conducted by the House Quad-Committee, which includes the Committees on Dangerous Drugs, Public Order & Safety, Human Rights, and Public Accounts. The session is set to take place at 9:30 AM at the People's Center Building in Quezon City.

The invitation, dated October 18, requests Duterte’s presence to provide insights and clarify matters related to ongoing discussions, particularly on the issue of extrajudicial killings. The inquiry aims to gather information to aid in crafting legislation addressing human rights concerns and public safety measures.

The committees are looking forward to hearing from the former president, who played a central role in launching the controversial war on drugs during his administration. The hearing is expected to cover the policies implemented during his term and their impact on human rights in the country. As the House looks to gain a comprehensive understanding of the situation, Duterte's firsthand account and any documentation or presentations he may provide could prove significant.

Duterte has been requested to confirm his attendance, and if he plans to make a presentation or submit documents, he is encouraged to coordinate with the Committee Secretariat in advance to ensure proper preparation.

With the hearing just around the corner, all eyes are on Duterte’s response and whether he will personally appear to address the issues that have sparked widespread debate both domestically and internationally.
