President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. accepted the resignation of Secretary Fred Pascual from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), effective August 2, 2024. Pascual is heading back to the private sector.

“His focus on MSMEs was absolutely correct, and we are beginning to see the fruits of that policy. We are sorry to lose him, but we respect his decision that this is the time for him to return to the private sector," Marcos said.

Pascual's tenure at DTI was marked by his strategic initiatives aimed at rejuvenating the economy and fostering growth among MSMEs. His departure, though a loss for the public sector, opens a new chapter for him and signals the start of the search for his successor. The administration is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the momentum of the ongoing projects and policies Pascual championed.
