Gilas Pilipinas showcased their prowess with a stunning 94-64 triumph against Hong Kong in the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers at Tsuen Wan Stadium.

Led by Justin Brownlee's all-around performance and a powerful third-quarter surge, the Philippine team asserted their dominance in the opening game.

Brownlee, fresh from his historic gold medal achievement in the Asian Games, contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Big man Kai Sotto notched a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds, while UAAP MVP Kevin Quiambao added 15 points in his debut with Gilas under Coach Cone.

The Nationals outscored Hong Kong 30-9 in the pivotal third period, turning a narrow halftime lead into a commanding 63-45 advantage. Despite playing with a limited 11-man lineup due to the absence of June Mar Fajardo and AJ Edu, Gilas displayed resilience and cohesion.

Gilas Pilipinas, buoyed by their impressive performance, is set to return home on Friday. Their next challenge awaits as they face Chinese Taipei at the Philsports Arena on Sunday.
