President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. isn't holding back when it comes to those who assisted the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo in fleeing the country. During a briefing on the effects of Severe Tropical Storm Enteng in Quezon City, the President made it clear that anyone involved in Guo's escape will face serious consequences.

“All those who are implicated in … assisting Alice Guo to leave the Philippines illegally as a fugitive from justice will certainly pay the price,” President Marcos stated firmly.

He added that it's not just about losing their jobs—these individuals will also face legal action. “Hindi lang namin sila sisibakin, kakasuhan pa namin sila dahil ang kanilang ginawa ay labag sa batas at against all the interests of the Philippine judicial system,” he emphasized.

Guo fled the country in the midst of an investigation into her involvement in illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) activities. Despite being under a Bureau of Immigration lookout bulletin, she managed to evade authorities by first heading to Malaysia, then Singapore, and finally Indonesia.

The President assured the public that the government is working closely with Indonesia to bring Guo back to the Philippines as soon as possible. Indonesian authorities confirmed her arrest in Tangerang City, Jakarta, on September 4.

President Marcos had earlier vowed that “heads will roll,” and his recent statements show that he's committed to making sure those responsible for helping Guo escape will be held accountable.
