In a solemn ceremony at the Quirino Grandstand, His Eminence Cardinal Jose Advincula presided over the high mass to commemorate the Feast of the Black Nazarene on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

The religious event drew prominent figures, including Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto, Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, and other key officials, who gathered to participate in the Misa Mayor that commenced at the stroke of midnight.

The culmination of the annual celebration, known as the Traslacion, is anticipated to bring together millions of devotees from across the Philippines. Following the high mass, the revered image of the Black Nazarene will be returned to its home at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of the Black Nazarene.

As the clock struck 8 AM, the Traslacion crowd had already swelled to 830,000, with this count recorded as of 7:44 AM.
Pilgrims and devotees, undeterred by the early hour, thronged the streets of Quiapo, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere surrounding this deeply significant religious event.
