The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and SM Prime Holdings, Inc. officially broke ground for the EDSA Concourse Project. This state-of-the-art footbridge will seamlessly connect SM North EDSA mall with the EDSA Busway, providing a convenient and accessible link for commuters.

The collaborative effort to construct the concourse involves key stakeholders, including SM Supermalls, DOTr Road Transport and Infrastructure, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the Local Government of Quezon City.

The primary objective of the project is to facilitate easy access for SM North EDSA mall-goers to the EDSA Busway, aligning with DOTr's commitment to ensuring a comfortable, accessible, safe, sustainable, and affordable travel experience for the public.

DOTr Secretary Jaime J. Bautista expressed gratitude to the SM Group for their continuous support of transportation infrastructure projects. He highlighted the concourse as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative addressing the critical goal of accessibility, and encouraged other private companies to emulate this support for transport infrastructure projects.

"This concourse leading to the busway should be counted as a CSR initiative that addresses one of DOTr's goals– accessibility. I am grateful to SM for this convenient link to the EDSA Busway. We hope other private companies would follow this gesture of support to transport infrastructure projects," said Secretary Bautista.

In addition to facilitating access to the EDSA Busway, the concourse will also enable commuters to safely transfer to other modes of public transport available at the transport terminal at EDSA North.
