Hold on tight, folks! Tropical Depression #GenerPH is picking up the pace as it makes its way towards the northern part of Luzon. At 7 PM today, the center of Gener was spotted around 240 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Packing winds of up to 55 km/h with gusts reaching 70 km/h, it’s on a steady west-northwestward course at about 15 km/h.

What You Need to Know Right Now:

Current Location: East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan

Winds: 55 km/h sustained, gustiness up to 70 km/h

Direction: Moving west-northwest at 15 km/h

Wind Range: Strong winds can stretch up to 360 km from Gener's center

Areas on Alert: TCWS Signal No. 1 is up!

If you're in Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, and even parts of Pangasinan, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon, expect strong winds in the next 36 hours. While these winds aren't extreme (39-61 km/h), they're still something to watch out for, especially for those in coastal or mountainous areas.

Rainy Days Ahead

Gener isn’t the only weather system stirring things up. The Southwest Monsoon, intensified by Gener and Tropical Storm Pulasan, is expected to bring heavy rain and strong gusts, particularly in Batanes, MIMAROPA, Bicol, Visayas, and even Mindanao.

Today through Wednesday, brace for winds and rain in these areas, which could impact both daily activities and travel plans.

Risky Seas Alert!

For those planning to head out to sea, now’s the time to reconsider. PAGASA has issued a Gale Warning across several regions, including the western and southern coasts of Luzon, and large parts of Visayas and Mindanao. Waves could reach as high as 3.5 meters in some areas, making it dangerous for small vessels. Mariners and fishermen, stay cautious and keep an eye on updates.

What’s Next for Gener?

Tropical Depression Gener is on track to make landfall in Isabela or Aurora either tonight or early tomorrow morning. Once it crosses Luzon, it may intensify over the West Philippine Sea, possibly becoming a tropical storm by Wednesday. It’s expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday morning, heading towards southern China.

Stay Safe, Stay Informed

While Gener isn’t expected to pack a major punch, it’s still important to stay updated and follow local advisories, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides. Keep an eye out for evacuation orders if you're in highly vulnerable spots.
