In preparation for the commercial opening of Phase 1 of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project in the fourth quarter of 2024, officials from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), and Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) conducted a high-level inspection today at Dr. Santos Avenue station in Parañaque City.

The Dr. Santos Avenue station, part of the project’s first phase, joins other key stations including Redemptorist-ASEANA, MIA Road, PITX, and Ninoy Aquino Avenue.

These stations are equipped with modern amenities to enhance passenger convenience, safety, and accessibility. Features include two elevators per station for persons with disabilities (PWDs), northbound and southbound escalators, detectable warning surfaces for visually impaired passengers, real-time passenger information systems, and breastfeeding rooms. Additionally, Dr. Santos Station will serve as a major transit hub with dedicated bays for various transport modes and PWD parking lots.

Upon completion, the project is expected to reduce travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor, Cavite, from the current 1 hour and 10 minutes to just 25 minutes, and increase LRT-1's capacity to serve 800,000 passengers daily, up from the current 500,000.
