After an arduous six-day deliberation, the Committee of the Whole in the House of Representatives has given its nod to the Committee Report on Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No. 7, marking a significant step towards amending key economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution. The proposed amendments focus on Articles XII, XIV, and XVI, aiming to reshape the public service sector, enhance access to top-notch education for Filipino children, and liberalize the advertising industry.

Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, a driving force behind the initiative, rallied his colleagues to actively engage in the deliberations. Emphasizing the potential benefits, Speaker Romualdez highlighted that loosening restrictive economic provisions will create an environment conducive to abundant job opportunities, world-class education, and shared progress for all citizens.

The proposed amendments, which seek to reform the public service sector, ensure access to high-quality education in both Filipino and foreign-owned institutions for Filipino children, and liberalize the advertising industry, have garnered approval from the Committee of the Whole House. The decision reflects a collective effort to foster an environment conducive to economic growth and development.

Speaker Romualdez expressed confidence that these changes will lay the foundation for a more dynamic and inclusive economy, with widespread opportunities for citizens to thrive. The approved RBH 7 will now advance to the plenary for further deliberation, bringing the nation one step closer to implementing transformative reforms that could shape the economic landscape for years to come.
