The scheduled hearing of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability has been postponed to give way to Vice President Sara Duterte's appearance at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua, who chairs the committee, announced the decision during a press conference on Thursday.

The move came after members of the House of Representatives requested the delay to ensure that the Vice President could attend the NBI’s investigation. House officials emphasized the importance of her appearance before NBI Director Jaime Santiago as part of the ongoing probe.

The investigation focuses on alleged fund misuse in the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education during VP Duterte’s term. Lawmakers reiterated that the committee’s work is rooted in transparency and accountability, with findings expected to result in the filing of new legislative measures next week.

This development highlights the balancing act between legislative oversight and cooperation with other investigative bodies in high-profile cases.
