In a recent social media post, Congressman Joey Salceda shared that he’s throwing his full support behind the renewal of the 25-year franchise for Manila Electric Company (MERALCO). He proudly stood as one of the sponsors for House Bill No. 10926, which aims to extend MERALCO's operations for another quarter-century.

Salceda highlighted the importance of this bill during a plenary session, where he answered questions from fellow Members of the House to help move the franchise renewal forward. “We’re making sure that MERALCO continues to provide reliable and quality electricity to its customers within its franchise area,” he shared, adding that the bill successfully passed its second reading.

If approved, this renewal ensures that MERALCO will continue to power key areas including Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Pampanga, and Bulacan—essentially keeping the lights on for millions of Filipinos.
