President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has made a significant move in empowering the Filipino youth by appointing Joseph Francisco Ortega as the new Chairperson of the National Youth Commission (NYC). This decision underscores the administration's commitment to giving young Filipinos a strong voice in government.

Ortega’s impressive background makes him an ideal fit for this vital role. With years of experience in tourism and youth advocacy, he brings a fresh perspective and energy to the NYC. Before stepping into his new position, Ortega served as the Regional Director of the Department of Tourism (DOT) for Region 1, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing regional tourism and promoting sustainable practices. His work in this sector earned him a reputation for being a forward-thinking leader with a deep commitment to national development.

Ortega is no stranger to leadership. A proud Atenean, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Ateneo de Manila University and recently completed his Master of Business Administration at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business. His academic background, combined with his hands-on experience, positions him well to steer the NYC in its mission to create policies that will uplift and empower young Filipinos across the country.

But Ortega won't be alone in this mission. President Marcos has also appointed Karl Josef Legazpi as the second Commissioner-at-Large of the NYC. Legazpi, a director at the House of Representatives, brings his own wealth of experience and knowledge to the table, further strengthening the commission's leadership.

President Marcos expressed confidence in Ortega's ability to lead the NYC, emphasizing that under his leadership, the commission will continue to inspire young Filipinos to take on leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to society.
