In a move to honor the significant Islamic celebration of Eid’l Adha, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has officially declared June 17th, Monday, as a regular holiday. Proclamation No. 579, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin on June 4, highlights Eid’l Adha as one of Islam's two greatest feasts.

The decision to designate June 17th as a regular holiday was based on the recommendation of the National Commission on Filipinos, utilizing the 1445 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar. Republic Act No. 9848 mandates the observance of Eid’l Adha on the 10th day of Zhul Hijja, the 12th month of the Islamic Calendar, emphasizing its importance with a movable date.
