Philippine Red Cross
Tragedy struck Sitio Hukhukong in Barangay Labang after a landslide, triggered by Typhoon Pepito, claimed seven lives yesterday. Three survivors were rushed to the Region 2 Trauma and Medical Center, where the Philippine Red Cross stepped in to assist the injured and their families. Sadly, one person remains missing as search, rescue, and retrieval operations continue.

Governor Jose Gambitonot of Nueva Vizcaya received updates this morning from Acting Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Officer King Webster Balaw-ing. The province is reeling from the impact of Typhoon Pepito, with 4,297 evacuees recorded across affected areas. Pre-positioned relief goods are being distributed, while the Provincial Engineering Office has deployed teams to clear debris from blocked roads.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) is set to convene tomorrow to assess the situation fully. A State of Calamity declaration is on the table, which could pave the way for additional support and resources.
