As of 8:00 AM on May 22, meteorological authorities have reported the development of a Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Mindanao, located at coordinates 5.6N 136.9E, approximately 1,255 kilometers away from Southeastern Mindanao. This weather disturbance, potentially named "Aghon," currently lies outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The scenario outlined by weather experts suggests that the LPA may enter the PAR either tonight or by tomorrow morning. Subsequently, it is anticipated to traverse towards the Bicol Region-Eastern Visayas area, potentially making landfall late Friday or on Saturday. However, there is an alternative scenario wherein if the ridge weakens earlier, the LPA might recurve over the Philippine Sea near Bicol Region-Eastern Visayas, possibly developing into a tropical depression by Friday or Saturday.

In terms of the immediate weather outlook, today until tomorrow (Thursday), the country is expected to experience generally fair weather conditions. However, there are heightened chances of thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon and evening, with the LPA's formation being a contributing factor.

Looking ahead to Friday (May 24), most parts of the Philippines will continue to enjoy fair weather conditions. Nonetheless, there remains a possibility of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, especially in areas where the LPA's influence may be felt.

By Saturday to Sunday (May 25-26), the trough of the LPA, potentially evolving into a tropical depression, is forecasted to bring scattered rain showers over the eastern portion of Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas. These conditions may elevate the risk of flash floods and landslides in affected areas. Meanwhile, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected to persist in other parts of the country during this period.

Residents, particularly those residing in regions expected to be impacted by the approaching weather disturbance, are advised to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
