LTFRB Ready For 2-Day Transport Strike; Deploys Libreng Sakay

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is all set for the two-day transport strike happening from September 23 to 24. With two transport groups organizing the strike, the LTFRB wants to reassure everyone that they’ve got things under control to make sure the public isn’t left stranded.

LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III has already coordinated with key government agencies and local government units (LGUs) to prepare for any potential disruption. A big part of the plan? Deploying “Libreng Sakay” vehicles to give commuters free rides during the strike. So if you find yourself without your usual ride, these free services should help you get to where you need to go.

Guadiz emphasized that while the LTFRB fully respects the right of drivers and operators to express their concerns—as protected by the Constitution—they’re also focused on ensuring that the public’s transportation needs are met. "We remain committed to ensuring the commuting public’s access to transportation," he stated.

The LTFRB is also urging drivers who are participating in the strike to avoid causing heavy traffic on major roads, in an effort to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

So, for those two days, keep an eye out for Libreng Sakay vehicles, and here’s hoping we all get through the strike with minimal hassle.
