In a heartfelt message posted on X (formerly Twitter), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his deep gratitude and best wishes to US President Joe Biden, who recently announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.

President Marcos described Biden's decision as a “demonstration of genuine statesmanship,” highlighting the importance of Biden’s support for the Philippines during challenging times. “We thank him for his constant and unwavering support for the Philippines,” Marcos wrote. “We wish him well for the rest of his presidency and for all his future endeavors.”

The strong diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the US have been flourishing for 77 years, ever since they were formally established on July 4, 1946. Over the decades, the two nations have worked closely on a range of issues including defense and security, trade and investment, food security, energy, and combating climate change.

As the Philippines and the US continue their collaboration on these critical fronts, President Marcos’ message underscores the enduring and evolving partnership between the two countries.
