Maxicare Addresses Security Incident Involving Member Data Breach
File
Maxicare has issued a statement regarding a security incident involving unauthorized access to personal information. On June 13, 2024, Maxicare was alerted to a breach affecting approximately 13,000 members who used the booking platform of their third-party Homecare provider, Lab@Home. This represents less than 1% of Maxicare's member population.

The compromised information primarily pertains to booking requests, with no sensitive medical data exposed. Maxicare reassures that its business operations, network, and broader customer data remain unaffected, as Lab@Home maintains a separate database not integrated with Maxicare's systems.

Emergency measures have been promptly implemented to safeguard the privacy and security of the affected members. Maxicare has initiated a thorough investigation in collaboration with data security experts and a leading cybersecurity firm. The company is also fully compliant with regulatory requirements set forth by the National Privacy Commission.

Maxicare pledges to maintain transparent communication with its members throughout the investigation process. For any concerns or inquiries, affected members are encouraged to reach out directly to Maxicare's customer support.
