Meralco Power Academy (MPA) just took a big step toward shaping the future, bringing together over 330 students from 11 schools across the Philippines for the exciting Young Engineers and Scientists Summit (YESS) in Pasig City.

With the theme “Purpose-driven Innovation,” the event was all about empowering the next generation of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) students to think creatively and innovate boldly for a better tomorrow. The summit gave students a chance to learn from experts at New Energy Nexus, Ikigai Philippines, and Meralco, covering everything from innovation frameworks to the powerful concept of “ikigai” — finding your true purpose in life.

MPA President Nixon G. Hao encouraged the students to dive into the power sector, saying, “The power sector is full of untapped potential, and there is no better time than now for all of you to get involved, explore new avenues, and continue to innovate,”

Meralco’s Executive Vice President and COO Ronnie L. Aperocho also emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering homegrown talent, stating, “This summit is one of the many initiatives of the Meralco Power Academy, a testament to our commitment to developing Filipinos into the world's leading power industry talent.”

Among this year's participating schools were La Salle Greenhills, South Mansfield College, National University - Nazareth Schools, and more. The event was a huge success, leaving students inspired and ready to drive the future of STEM innovation.
