Meycauayan College is taking a major step toward sustainability, and it’s happening just in time for its 100th anniversary. The Bulacan-based institution has teamed up with MSpectrum, Inc., the solar subsidiary of Meralco, to install a 300-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar rooftop at its school building.

Big Savings, Bigger Impact

Slated for completion by the third quarter of 2025, this solar project is set to generate around 414,400 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually. That’s not just good news for the school—it’s a big win for the environment, too. By making the switch, Meycauayan College will cut down its carbon footprint by 292.48 metric tons per year—the equivalent of planting 13,000 trees or reducing over 1.17 million kilometers of vehicle travel.

For the school, it’s not just about going green. Meycauayan College Chairman of the Board Marcos C. Hermoso emphasized that this initiative will lower operational costs, allowing the institution to redirect savings toward better learning experiences.

“With MSpectrum’s support, we are looking forward to reducing our operational expenses. Any savings will greatly benefit the operations of Meycauayan College, and ultimately, we hope to utilize these savings in the form of initiatives that will benefit our stakeholders, which include the teaching staff and students,” Hermoso said.
